Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her career began with Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, and Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with prominent directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. Her two-season stint on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first major part. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford is an Denver origins native, and now splits his time between Los Angeles.
