Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej or now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first person in history to earn a 10. competing in the Olympics. Bela Karrolyi is an Romanian gymnastics teacher who was later Comaneci's coach who first came across Comaneci when she was just six years old. Her first competition was in the national junior championships which she finished 13th in the year 1969. In 1970, she took home the title. In 1972, during a meet of communist countries junior athletes before the Olympics she was awarded 3 gold and silver medals. After that, in 1973 and 1974, she became the overall junior champion. At her first competitive event in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals as well as one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman to perform the backward double salto in an unmounting from uneven bars parallel to each other. As a teenager she began her career in the entertainment industry by performing in the form of a figure skater. With her brother Nina Wayne she was part of a traveling show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol entered the entertainment industry as a teenager. At the age of a girl she was a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of ice-skating with actors.
